Just recently, i came up with the idea of “words are the best design for any paper.”. It came to me back from May this year, when i was thinking of what binder-notebook should i buy. I saw this “wirepin zipbook”(says in the back) and i think it’s totally cool and cheaper than Cattleya. There were many designs to choose from, lists and comic about teens. But this one particularly caught my mind because words are purely the design, and not just words, but things to ponder on.
When i purchased it, of course i was amused by the wit it had. Next was about what people will say about it. Of course it’s gonna turn some heads and earn interest from my classmates. It happened, of course. Many had borrowed this binder to read the covers. And just this morning, my almighty and model teacher Ms. Janelyn Idica finally noticed it. She took it while two students are doing interview simulation infront. She borrowed scanned it because of course she’s interested. Moreover, we shared the same interests in literature. She wasn’t able to read the whole of it, the about 35 things to ponder on, because she’s in the middle of work (obviously). So she asked me to please write it in paper and share it to her. I did it immediately. In my neatest handwriting which is all capitals, i think my handwriting looked better…hehe…i imagined her reading the paper with interest, lost in the world of ideas and letters, laughing about the witty points and telling her officemates about it. She’s very enthusiastic and cheerful, and her philosophy is the best philosophy in life i ever heard. She’s the real optimist, wise and well-bred. To me, she’s the person closest to perfection. Thinking of her makes of feel i can survive problems in life. Like her, i didn’t like calculus…hehe
Below is the top fifteen favorite of mine things to ponder on printed in my binder…hope you enjoy.
1. Is there another word for synonym?
2. The statistics on sanity is that one out of four people is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three bestfriends…if they’re okay, then it’s you.
3. Why do ‘overlook’ and ‘oversee’ mean opposite things?
4. Why is it that if someone tells you there are billions of stars in the universe, you believe them. But when you are told that a bench has wet paint, you still touch it to be sure?
5. If pro is the opposite of con, is progress the opposite of congress?
6. Why doesn’t onomatopoeia sound like what it is?
7. Isn’t it a bit unnerving that doctors call what they do ‘practice’?
8. If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and apes?
9. Why is it good to be a Daddy’s girl but bad to be a Momma’s boy?
10. If four out of five people SUFFER from diarrhea, does it mean that the fifth person enjoys it?
11. Where in the nursery rhyme did it say Humpty Dumpty is an egg?
12. We do have to pay a toll on “freeways”?
13. If love is blind, how do we believe in love at first sight?
14. Why are there pictures of the sun wearing sunglasses when the purpose of sunglasses is to protect your eyes from the sun?
15. (from Mia) If mimicking chinese/korean/japanese is politically impolite especially when you are wrong, is it impolite to sing along korean songs when you don’t know how to speak korean?
